How we work

The roots of the European Association of Urology Nurses can be traced back to the late 1990s. During that time, many practitioners in the field of urology nursing were looking for opportunities to work within an organised international network – at that time, professional urology nurses associations only existed in several European countries.

It all started with a nurses meeting at the Annual EAU Congress in Brussels in April 2000. From the nurses gathered at that meeting a committee was formed. This new-found energy of collaboration between urology nurses from different European countries powered the foundation of the EAUN. The EAUN is now a solid association with over 3,000 members which is steadily growing to maturity.

The first board of the EAUN was instigated in 2001 in Brussels. The board currently consists of 8 nurses. A board member can stay in the board for a maximum of 10 years in total, in various roles. Each board member has some specific tasks, which are currently being updated and will be added asap.

Scientific Congress Office

The scientific programme of the International EAUN Meetings is composed by the EAUN Scientific Congress Office (SCO). The SCO started in 2013 and has 5 members including one EAUN Board Member, who chairs the SCO.

Special Interest Groups

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) empower urology nurses to connect, share expertise, and advance their knowledge in specific urological fields. By collaborating on research, guidelines, and education, SIG members foster professional growth and contribute to impactful EAUN initiatives.
